I showed the tourists in this shot for a sense of scale. The digging buckets are huge and would swing back and forth digging up the stream bed before processing the materials inside the dredge. The waste would be discharged out the back and would make tailing piles.

This is my favorite shot from the trip to Sumpter. It looks like an old oil tanker trailer. The thing that strikes me about it is that it was bridging the worlds of horse drawn and machinery. I could easily see this being pulled by horses to take the fuel or oil to the equipment. It may be not that old but it has the look.
